Headaches

There are a number of causes of headache and most are not serious. Once the cause is established headaches can often be helped by changes in lifestyle. A good example is when a person is speaking on the phone by holding it up to their ear, or hooking it up with their shoulder, they will be introducing painful strain and tension in their neck. Simply by using a headset, they will improve their symptoms considerably.

Tension or strain in the muscles and joints of the neck and upper back is a common reason why people get headaches.

How Osteopathy can help

Gentle massage to the tight muscles and manipulation to loosen the joints of the neck and back can be enormously helpful. It can relieve the build-up of muscular tension that can cause headaches. Osteopaths can also advise on exercise and lifestyle changes and offer guidance on simple changes to your posture at work or driving which may help.
